Elena is 16 years old and a student of Carrollton School in Miami, Florida, USA. She is part of the National Junior Honor Society and has been awarded the Duke TIP (Talent Identification Program). She was one of the original Junior Advisory Board members of Joshua’s Heart Foundation (JHF), in 2008. With the help of her family, she got Young Presidents Organization (YPO) & World Presidents Organization (WPO) families to participate in a JHF Thanksgiving food distribution event, which became an annual event. By November 2013, she was able to get more than 650 families to volunteer, get in kind food donations, and help pack and distribute the boxes of food to the homeless.
In the past, Elena has volunteered at several JHF events and has always been willing to support Joshua and the JHF foundation. She has also organized toy and book drives to different communities in South Florida. For the last eight years, she has supported the RCMA School in Homestead by donating school supplies through school collections. At school, she founded her own club named the Hopefull Club. Her club strives to help fight hunger in the community by providing the homeless with toiletries and food. She is a recipient of the Miami Children Hospital Foundation's prestigious 'I make a difference' award.
In school, Elena was awarded Honor Roll in both ninth and tenth grade. She was also awarded the Scholarship Award last year and the Excellence Award in Honors Algebra II.
