Hey! My name is Amy. I’m 17, a senior at Mater Academy East, and I’ve been a JAB member since freshmen year. I hosted my first donation drive sophomore year. It was a collaboration with Soles4Souls where I, alongside the National Honors Society chapter at my school, collected used shoes to be sent to Central America. Outside of Joshua’s heart, I’m involved with a number of clubs at school. I currently serve as president of National Honors Society and Yearbook. I co- founded “Living Poets Society”, a philosophy club at my school. And I am in the works of establishing, “It’s T.E.C.H” Technology Empowers Through Collective Humanity- a service venture where myself and volunteers would help teach computer literacy skills to underrepresented members in the community- such as my fellow LatinX community for example; all in partnership with Survivor’s Pathway, an LGBT advocacy and help center for sexually abused victims.
Evidently enough, I’m also passionate about global service which is why I traveled with Global Leadership Adventures to Peru last year and why I visited Honduras, where I spent it volunteering at a rural school in La Ceiba.
When I’m not volunteering or after school at a school event, you can find me reading, at a Miami Teen Democrats meeting(woo!), riding my bike, or binge watching The West Wing on Netflix on any given day.
