Emily is currently a junior at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy. She is part of the Lourdes Varsity Cheerleading team as well as many different clubs. She is a member of Key Club, Health Professionals, and Care Club. She has volunteered for many service projects like the Down Syndrome walk, Miami Rescue Mission, Special Olympics, and at the Jewish Health System Retirement Home,many grocery distributions and the delivery of Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas toys. On April 22,2017 she received a certificate of special congressional recognition from the honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen for my service. This is her second year on the Junior Advisory Board (JAB) for Joshua’s Heart. This year, she was given the position as assistant treasurer for this amazing organization. Within this foundation, she came up with a project called Pieces 4 Hope. she created, in collaboration with Taudrey handmade jewelry, a necklace to represent Joshua’s Heart. For every necklace that she sells, a percentage of the proceeds goes back to the organization. Furthermore, she have given about $700 back to the foundation and it’s just getting started. Last year, she received a grant called the “Disney Summer of Service Grant" from YSA. The grant consisted of $500 of which she used to purchase her first batch of necklaces. All in all, this foundation has shown her compassion, responsibility, humility, perseverance, and that she can help to make a difference in peoples lives.
