Volunteers are an integral part of Joshua’s Heart’s efforts to stomp out hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world. Our volunteers are both children and adults who work directly with the needy and in administrative and planning areas.
We understand that some people’s schedules only allow them to help out occasionally, while others are interested in making the commitment to take on a leadership role. That’s why Joshua’s Heart offers multiple volunteer programs.
Junior Advisory Board (JAB)
Youth serve as a “board of directors” for the organization. Members serve as Joshua’s “right hand,” representing the foundation at events and guiding the younger volunteers. Click here to learn more about JAB. Must be between 10-18 years old.
A team of generous adults work with Joshua’s Heart. Their knowledge and experience is an invaluable asset to the organization. They teach our youth volunteers essential skills including event planning, fundraising and administration. Our adult advisors also offer executive-level advice to the organization. What capacity would you like to serve? Let us know. Contact us now.
Elves are a group of young people from across the United States and around the world that help Joshua’s Heart expand into new locations. They lead Joshua’s Heart’s efforts to stomp out hunger in their schools, neighborhoods and cities. Elves responsibilities include creating fundraisers, participating in food and toy distribution and educating their peers about Joshua’s Heart and its mission to end hunger. No Age limit.
Food Distribution Volunteers
Volunteers who help out with our food donation programs gain hands on community service experience as well as the satisfaction of doing their part to stomp out hunger. We have an ongoing need for people to fill the following roles:
- Food Sorter
- These individuals are as essential part of Joshua’s Heart. They help pack, sort and distribute healthy food to those in need. No experience is necessary, just a desire to help your community. No age requirement.
- Food Box Distribution Assistance
- Volunteers in this role help distribute supplemental food program boxes at our distribution sites on weekdays. They help seniors carry at least a 35-pound box and register new clients. Volunteers should be comfortable interacting with women, children and senior citizens from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
- Special Event Volunteers
- Joshua’s Heart participates in a variety of food drives and fundraisers through the year. Volunteers collect food and money while assisting at these fun community activities. Most events are held in the evening or on weekends. Would you like to Fundraise, conduct a food drive or do you have an idea? Contact Us.
If you have, or would like to gain, clerical experience, you would make a great administrative volunteer. Our staff needs assistance with filing, mailings, data entry, reception desk support and other office duties. An interview is required before becoming an administrative volunteer. Send us an email.
